D2L/Brightspace LTI 1.3 Integration

Manual Registration

Register a new tool in your Brightspace installation:

1. Login to the Brightspace installation as an administrator.

2. Navigate to 'Admin Tools (Gear Icon)' -> 'Manage Extensibility'

   
3. Click the 'LTI Advantage' tab, then the 'Register Tool' button
   
4. Choose Standard registration, then click Register.
5. In the resulting form, configure the tool with the following information:
   • Enabled: CHECKED
   • Name: Infobase Platform
   • Description: Infobase’s new, integrated platform provides a streamlined and intuitive experience for accessing your digital collections. This platform focuses on improving usability and content delivery, making it easier for all of your users to navigate, search, and engage with high quality learning materials.
   • Domain: https://lti.infobase.com/
   • Redirection URLs: https://lti.infobase.com/
   • OpenID Connect Login URL: https://lti.infobase.com/login
   • Keyset URL: https://lti.infobase.com/keys
   • Extensions: CHECKED <- For each service you plan to use.
   • Roles: CHECKED <- If you plan to use this information in you tool.
     
     
6. Click the 'Register' button at the bottom when the form is filled. You can change this form later if needed.
7. After saving, scroll down to the bottom of the registration page to find the registration details. Email your Client ID and the domain (URL) of your LMS to [e-mail] who will complete the connection. Please mention that you used the manual registration process.
8. After support confirms the connection has been finalized, the tool is integrated and available to deploy.
    

Add a deployment / Perform a test launch:

1. From the last page when registering the tool, click the 'View Deployments' link near the bottom of the page.

   

2. Click the 'New Deployment' button.

   
3. In the resulting form, enter the following:
   • Enabled: CHECKED
   • Tool: Select your tool from the dropdown list
   • Name: Infobase Platform
   • Description: Infobase’s new, integrated platform provides a streamlined and intuitive experience for accessing your digital collections. This platform focuses on improving usability and content delivery, making it easier for all of your users to navigate, search, and engage with high quality learning materials.
   • Extensions: CHECKED <- For each service you plan to use.
   • Security Settings: CHECKED <- Select as little as possible to avoid passing sensitive user information to your tool.
4. Click the 'Add Org Units' button and in the popup, select which organizations/users should have access to the tool.

5. Click the 'Save and Close' button to save the deployment.

   

6. Go back into the deployment form and click the 'View Links' link at the bottom of the form.
7. In the Links page, click the 'New Link' button
8. Fill in the resulting form as follows:
   • Enabled: CHECKED
   • Name: Infobase Platform
   • URL: https://lti.infobase.com/
   • Description: Infobase’s new, integrated platform provides a streamlined and intuitive experience for accessing your digital collections. This platform focuses on improving usability and content delivery, making it easier for all of your users to navigate, search, and engage with high quality learning materials.

   • Type: Select the way you want the tool to show to the user.

     

9. Click the 'Save and Close' button.
10. Click on the grid icon at the top of the page and navigate to a course, then click the 'Content' tab, and click the 'Add a Module' input box. In the box, give the module a name you prefer.

11. Once the module is created, click the 'Existing Activities' button and select 'External Learning Tools' option.

    
12. In the resulting dialog, find your tool name on the list and click it.
13. Finally, a link should have been created in the course module page. Click it to launch the tool.
