Discovery Service Integration

Infobase sends collection data each month to the following Discovery services:

Most customers can simply enable the correct collections in the Discovery Admin account to make Infobase content discoverable in their institution’s interface. If unsure which collection(s) you have, please email support at productsupport@infobase.com.

Please note that all Discovery integrations use the legacy platform URLs, such as https://fod.infobase.com and https://online.infobase.com, to manage the connections. You'll need to ensure that your proxy and/or whitelist is set up to accept these legacy URLs. Additionally, Credo Reference may require a legacy Credo ID which does not match your Infobase ID; please see this page for additional Credo information.

More detailed information about these partnerships, including information on how to set up your Infobase resources, is below. EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS)

Select the correct collection in your EBSCO holdings management page, then set up a CustomLink to facilitate the linking. Self-service is possible, but EDS recommends that customers work with their support team through the EBSCO Connect portal.

  1. In EDS Admin, go to Holdings Management > Vendors, and find Infobase Publishing
  2. In the Package Name list, find the correct collection(s) and set to "Selected under Current Holdings."
  3. Set up a CustomLink for these collections under Site/Group Maintenance > CustomLinks

Tips:

  • Many customers subscribe to the Master Academic Collection, which is called "Films on Demand: US: Master Academic Collection" in the EDS Holdings Management Interface (see screenshot below).
  • If the correct collection is not found under "Infobase," try "Films on Demand", "FOD", "FMG", "Films Media Group," or "Credo" instead.
  • The title counts will not match your Admin title count, as our Discovery Data also indexes material at the series level for Discovery. Each series counts as an additional "title."

 

Purchased content in EDS

If you have purchased single videos rather than a collection, you can add them to your holdings:

  1. Turn on the database Films on Demand in the EBSCO Holdings Management Interface. Note that this collection is all FOD content.
  2. Set up a Local Collection to define your holdings. This is typically done with MARC records;
  3. see our Admin Portal Help Center for info on downloading your FOD MARC records.
  4. Set up a CustomLink for this local collection under Site/Group Maintenance > CustomLinks

EDS Widget (Credo Reference Only)

We also have a Credo widget integration available for EDS. This integration will show real-time results from your Credo content package at the top of your EDS results. 

To set this up, you'll need to add your Credo "x-username" ID (available from support@credoreference.com.) You can find the process to set this up in EBSCO's Help Center. The screenshot below shows how the widget displays in your EDS account.

ALMA (Clarivate, formerly ProQuest)

Infobase content is available in the search results for ALMA:

  • Choose your Infobase products in the Client Center.

  • Set up your custom linking parameter with your Infobase client ID. The correct customer ID value can be found in your Admin account at the top left under your logo, or in any permalink from the platform.
    This information can be added by updating the CUSTOMER_ID Parameter at the bottom of the page:

    If experiencing issues with authentication, check that "Proxy Enabled" is set to "Yes":

WorldCat (OCLC)

  • Enable your Infobase package in the OCLC Knowledgebase under Metasearch Content > Licensed Content Databases > Non-OCLC Licensed Databases, then select your appropriate collection. Most Films on Demand customers have the Master Academic Collection.
  • In WorldShare, go to Collection Manager > Setting  > WorldCat Holdings" and click "Maintain Holdings: Yes"
    • For a mapping of Infobase Products to OCLC Knowledgebase Collection names, see here (Google Sheets).
    • The title counts will not match your Admin title count, as our Discovery Data also indexes material at the series level for Discovery. Each series counts as an additional "title."
    • If your product is not listed, it's not currently compatible, but please let us know at productsupport@infobase.com if you are interested in adding it. Alternately, you can create a local listing with the MARC records. See the OCLC Help Center for more information on this process.
