Administrators can suppress content from their account's search results, either by title or based on the following attributes:
- Warning Flags
- Producers
- Copyright Years
- Subjects
Watch a short video of the suppression process, or written instructions can be found below.
Content suppression is managed under the Infobase Platform placard in your Admin portal. Locate the Infobase Platform resource placard, then click on Suppression. If you don't have Admin Portal credentials, please contact productsupport@infobase.com for assistance.
General Suppression
For General Suppression, check the boxes next to the items you'd like to exclude, then click save at the bottom. The characteristics that are not checked on this page will be included. For example, in the following configuration, there will be no content in your account that has an alcohol or drugs warning flag, and all content will date from the 1980s or later:
Title Suppression
To suppress by title, click over to the "Title Suppression" tab.
To add titles to the suppression list, click the "Restrict More Titles" button on the right.
Enter the title to be removed into the search field, and click the search icon. Only the title field can be used; producer, year, and item ID are not indexed in this search. If you can't find a title in your account using this search, try just using a keyword rather than the complete title.
Once you have results, click the box next to the title you'd like to suppress, then click "Restrict Selected Titles." You can select more than one at a time.
When you close the interface, you should see that the titles you restricted are now appearing on the "Currently Suppressed Titles" list. If you'd like to remove one, click the trash can icon in each row: to remove all, use the "Remove All" button at the top. Both options will give you a confirmation screen before removing the entry.
Additional Notes
When content is suppressed, it is completely hidden from the account. You cannot access it via search, browse, or direct URL. If a user follows a direct URL to suppressed content, they will see the following message:
Access Denied
Unfortunately, you do not have permission to view this content. This may be due to your current subscription level.
Expected Delays
When enabling suppression:
- The content will be inaccessible almost immediately (less than 10 minutes)
When removing an existing suppression:
- The title will be accessible via its direct URL almost immediately (less than 10 minutes)
- However, it will take one overnight sync for the content to appear when browsing/searching
- If you need access to the title before the overnight sync completes and you do not have the title's direct URL, please log into the Admin Portal and navigate to the Infobase Platform resource placard. Click My Content > Title Data. Change the time filter in the upper right to "Show All Titles", then search for the name of the title to locate its URL.
