The Infobase platform offers several types of authentication. Please review the options below and reach out to productsupport@infobase.com with any questions or to set up a particular method.
IP Address
IP Address authentication allows anyone coming from your institution's IP address or ranges to have seamless access to your Infobase platform. See our IP Authentication Article for more information.
Proxy Authentication
In addition to the IP authentication associated with your proxy, having the proxy modifier on file automatically routes remote users toward it when following links shared from your Infobase subscription. See our Proxy Article for more information.
OpenAthens Authentication
We support this proxy alternative for authentication into our platform. See our OpenAthens Article for more information.
SAML
Users of Microsoft Entra (formerly Microsoft Azure) or other IdP services can set up single sign-on into the Infobase platform. See our SAML Article for more information.
Google or Microsoft Domain
If your institution has a shared Google or Microsoft account for staff and student emails, it can be used for authentication to Infobase resources. Please send us all of the possible values (yourschool.org, student.yourschool.org, etc) and we will set them up for access. Please note that this works via domain match, and does not create or log users into personal accounts.
Username and Password
Admins can set up a username and password to share with users internally as a manual option to log into the platform.
Referring URL
If your users are already logging in to a password-protected page before accessing your Infobase subscriptions, we can use referring URL authentication to make sure they don't have to log in twice.
Barcode
Many libraries issue their patrons a barcode/membership number. To enable this method of authentication you will need to supply Infobase Support with the barcode number pattern. Often it looks like the following: 25501xxxxxxxxxxx, where x is any number.
LTI Integration
LTI, or Learning Tools Interoperability, is a protocol for integrating with learning management systems. Please see our LTI 1.3 General Information article for more information. Please note: an Access Video on Demand-branded LTI integration is not available.
URLs to Whitelist
If your institution requires URLs to be specifically enabled or excluded from your security software, please see our list of all platform URLs here.
